Who we are
PoliceCodeFor.com is an independent public reference site that explains police radio codes, scanner codes and code references in plain English. It is not affiliated with any law enforcement agency.
Information we collect
The site has no user accounts, comments, newsletter or uploads. The only personal information it asks for is what you choose to send through the contact form.
Some usage and technical data is still processed automatically when you visit, by the two services described below: Google Analytics 4 and Cloudflare.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
The site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google. It collects usage information such as:
- pages viewed and time on page
- the referring website
- device and browser type
- approximate location (country and city), derived from the IP address
- interactions with the page
Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses.
We use this data only to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use analytics data for advertising.
For more detail, see the Google Privacy Policy and Google’s page “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Like any web server, it processes technical request data, such as your IP address, browser user agent and the page you request. This lets it deliver pages and protect the site against abuse. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
The site's web fonts, Inter and JetBrains Mono (from Google Fonts), are delivered through Cloudflare.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive what you enter: your name, email address, topic, the page you mention and your message. The form is handled by Web3Forms, which forwards the message to us. We use these details only to read and reply to your message and to improve the site, and we never add you to a mailing list. Web3Forms processes submissions under its own privacy policy, available at web3forms.com.
Cookies
Apart from the Google Analytics cookies below, the site sets no cookies.
GA4 sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID>. They distinguish visitors and sessions, and can last up to two years.
Advertising
The site does not currently display advertising. Analytics data is not used for advertising.
Links to other websites
Pages on this site sometimes link to other websites, for example agency documents or statutes. Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
Children's privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
Depending on where you live, for example under the EU or UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Apart from messages you send through the contact form, the site does not hold identifiable personal information, and analytics data is processed by Google under its policies. To ask us to delete a message you sent, use the contact form.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated. The current version is always the one on this page.
